Service Life Prediction

Estimating a product´s service life is one of the most important goals of weathering testing.The development of a new product or material, whose guaranteed retention of properties is much longer than its development and market introduction deadlines, requires fast and reliable assessment of its service life. Today, the controlled acceleration of material aging provides the best compromise between reliability and timely results. In general, two methodologies are used based either on an experimental or on a mechanistic approach. Both methods are used and combined with state-of-the-art test planning and data treatment to achieve the most reliable results that are possible with given resources and constraints.
